A coloring game you can play by shape

How the shape system works

Each picture uses between four and seven colors. JewelColor assigns them to shapes in a fixed order: the first color is always round, the second a diamond, then hexagon, teardrop, heart, square, triangle and star. Within a single board, no two colors ever share a shape.

Because the order never changes, you quickly stop “reading” colors at all. A board becomes a pattern of hearts and hexagons, which is exactly how many players prefer to solve the busy 16×16 pictures anyway.

Designed for common color vision deficiencies

Around 1 in 12 men and 1 in 200 women have some form of color vision deficiency, most often red-green (deuteranopia or protanopia). Pinks and greens, or golds and light greens, can look almost identical. On the pairs below, the colors may be hard to separate, but the shapes never are.

Other things that help

• No timer. Nothing rushes you, so there is no penalty for taking a closer look.
• No lives or failure. A wrong tap costs one move on your counter, nothing more.
• Reduce Motion support. With iOS Reduce Motion on, the floating sparkles in the background are turned off.
• Sound and haptics are optional. Both can be switched off in settings.
